Will Rogers Died August 15, 1935 OR Did He?

Will Rogers Died August 15, 1935 OR Did He?

By Nikki Villoria
Aug. 15, 2011

For some, dreams start with school, for others with an inheritance, for these two men it started with a rope and an audience. Working through life, driven by a career and a passion, they ride the horizons from sunrise to sunset on a common goal; not to strike it rich and call it quits, but to engage an audience of citizens to embark on a participatory challenge of common sense and communication. Growing up through the industrial revolution an American icon took the limelight not only as an esteemed entertainer, but also as the humorist that sparked interest in individuals and demanded societal involvement in communication. From high ticket film sets to center stage in one of the greatest theatrical productions of it’s time, the Ziegfeld Follies, to the comfort of leaning over the warn keys of a metal typewriter, Will Rogers became the humorist philosopher that entertained and engrossed audiences in interpersonal connections. His routines focused on intelligent and humorous observations of people, life, the nation and government. As a figure in show business, he jumped into what he called “the best show in the world” and took to politics, not as a participant behind a desk but as a solicitor of national thought and interaction. He broadened his career from jobs as an actor and trick roper and let his real passion loose, taking on syndicated columns, books, radio broadcasting and political commentating. His simple humor and direct, intelligent political writings and observations about the government and America earned him the respect of the nation. In 1935 a plane crash took his life, but over 60 years later, a 35-year-old rising entertainer picked up his story in the form of a script for a tribute performance in the Will Rogers Follies and from that moment, adopted his passion and set out to continue the efforts.
The 35-year-old trick roper and entertainer, Will Roberts was given an offer to play the role of Rogers during a four-week production that told the life story of the humorist-roping writer. Though only a four-week gig, it was more than enough time for Roberts to acknowledge his newly increased passion. He adopted the Will Rogers-style of incorporating common sense, respect and an open mind to all sides and developed his own material that stove to evoke Rogers’ same goal. Lasso in hand their passions flow on the ability to rope people together to divulge in communication and in-depth interaction. “I meet so many people and folks who spend so much time keeping it in. They are not talking to each other, just talking to themselves, and you know what happens to folks that talk to themselves, people think they are crazy.

I want to talk to folks; ‘cause people are what it’s all about. Bring back the history, bring back the conversation,” Roberts said. “I made a choice that I’m marketing the Will Rogers philosophy and not doing Will Rogers himself, because I realized that 99% of the world don’t know who Will Rogers is now a days, so I’m trying to promote the ideas and way of thinking because none of that has changed.”And so began his life passion to implore society to indulge in old-fashioned communication and interaction, ultimately branding himself the modern day Will Rogers. While simultaneously entertaining as part of one of the largest production companies on the Las Vegas Strip, Roberts has his daily column syndicated to about 70 sites and has been featured and participates in podcasts, video segments and political cartoons.

“Will Rogers died in ’35, I was 35 when I started this, I worked at Fox 35, he worked for Fox Pictures. He worked in the extravaganza production and now I work at one of the largest extravaganzas in the world doing the same thing, spinning a rope in a humorous way. I’m really emulating and living the life Will Rogers had just with a modern twist,” said Roberts. From 1911 to 2011, patterns and customs in everyday life shift and develop accordingly to the times but the need for communication stays steady. While the mode of encouraging the exchange of ideas and thoughts has shifted from typewriter to iPhone and from radio to YouTube, 70 years have past from one Will to another, the times haven’t changed much and the message stays the same.“Will Rogers use to say, all I know is what I read in the newspaper. The same holds true today except the saying now for me is, all I know is what I read on the Internet,” said Roberts. “Nothing really changes, it’s all just kind of a cycle.

”Communication and Entertainment, to some these may be seem as two atypical terms of two realms of society; human interaction and amusement, but to engage both efforts of performance to achieve a societal participation and exchange of thoughts and ideas is what the hard work is all about. Encouraging society to get involved in the conversation and make themselves heard by the general public, Roberts initiated and maintains an open forum,, a gathering of the minds to discuss world news beyond the media and Hollywood’s perspectives and is told by the people directly.

“People really want to be heard and they don’t necessarily want to be talked at and they want to know that they are being listened to, so this has become my passion, to help provide that,” said Rogers. Throughout their careers on and off the stages, in front and behind the cameras and whether it is in written or spoken dialect, Will Rogers and Will Roberts provide a communication link to a more commonsensical future and a more comprehensible past.

New York Public School Tax Dollars At Work!

New York Public School Tax Dollars At Work!

By Michael John McCrae
Aug. 14, 2011

California has approved a completely homosexual history curriculum for its public schools. The state has also approved a homosexual school-based program to teach “gender-neutrality” to help little Johnny and little Jane work out those feelings that boys and girls might be actually different from each other. (We can’t have that now.) Massachusetts public schools are awash in all manner of semi-pornographic programs for public school students and now New York State is making sex education “mandatory” for school children as young as 11-years old who the state feels must be taught the proper adult method when applying a condom.

Now, a random “Google” of the phrase “teachers having sex with students” brought back over 7 million hits. I believe there is enough teacher-student sex going on in schools that we don’t have to make it “mandatory”. Of course many of these teachers having sex with their students aren’t using condoms, so I could be wrong.

What brings this to my attention today is a report by Todd Starns (Aug.10) entitled: “Sex Education in NYC Schools Becomes Mandatory” which began: “Students in New York City will be required to take sex education classes that include lessons on how to use a condom – a curriculum that the head of the school system said is long overdue.”

Yep, it is “long overdue” to teach 11-year olds how to put on condoms. From the report: “Children as young as 11 years old will take part in discussions on a variety of topics ranging from the risks of unprotected sex to the appropriate age for sexual activity... One of the lessons includes instruction on how to properly use a condom.” Will these 11-year olds be putting condoms on cucumbers or bananas? To be more realistic; will the students learn with a “dildo”; some type of anatomically correct mannequin or will they practice “proper use” on themselves? Who would be responsible to grade the students on whether or not they know how to “properly use a condom”? Would tutoring be available for those students who continually fail to correctly use a condom?

Now the report does contain quotes from dissenting voices, but the horse has already left the barn on this one. You should read the report because except for the dissenting voice there is no reference to the curriculum anywhere speaking to sexual abstinence: Quoting: ““We must be committed to ensuring that both middle school and high school students are exposed to this valuable information so they can learn to keep themselves safe before, and when, they decide to have sex,” NYC Schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott wrote in a letter to principals and obtained by Fox News Radio.”

So the “valuable information” must come from the schools. Parents can’t be trusted to teach their children about sex. Churches can’t be trusted because they dwell too heavily on the “abstinence” issue. Children must be taught how to properly conduct themselves sexually by the public schools of New York.

The only proper sex education for the public schools of America is “abstinence”. What would be so wrong teaching that a man and a woman should wait until they have selected their life-mate, gotten married and picked their perfect honeymoon spot before having sex? Abstinence protects a person 100 percent from of all STD’s, 100 percent from the possibility of underage pregnancy and 100 percent from the possibility of contracting HIV and AIDS from homosexual activity. If the public schools don’t care to teach abstinence they should not be teaching “proper” ways of using condoms with a 30 percent failure rate whether used correctly of not or various birth control methods that also include appreciable failure rates.

I suppose that no matter the circumstances New York will take the sexual ball and run with it into every possible sexual aspect: all “for the children” of course! It will only be a matter of months before the homosexual lobby sues to have public schools teaching “gender neutrality” and homosexual history. Too, I am certain that New York schools will keep these studies on the positive side: avoiding any mention of consequence, deviancy or the perfect protections afforded by abstaining from sex until marriage.

The Middle Class Is Committing Suicide

By Timothy N. Stelly
Sept. 30, 2011

Pay attention, people! If you have the right to vote, then you have a duty to become as informed as possible before casting that vote. Sadly, most people in this country simply follow their party’s line. Take note of registered Republican who decry the erosion of the middle class, and then casts their votes for a member of their party who is a participating in the middle class’s further destruction.

When Ronald Ray Gun fired the PATCO workers (air traffic controllers) in 1981, that sounded the bugles announcing the arrival of the corporate Calvary who were set to charge on the middle class. Labor battles are now at the forefront of political battles in Wisconsin , Connecticut and Minnesota . The nation’s largest employer, Wal-Mart, has a reputation for stringent anti-unionism and is currently being sued for its alleged discriminatory policies.

In 1952 the percentage of union workers was at 32.5%. Now it is estimated at 11.9% down from 12.3% in 2010. (2) This despite the fact that between 1950-2000 the work force more than doubled. In 1975 there were 22.2 million union workers in America , the highest level ever. Since 2009 there have been nearly 1.4 million jobs lost. (1)

Why is it that the American electorate can’t see that they’re digging their own graves? Unions have been good for America . According to one source:

Unions raise wages of unionized workers by roughly 20% and raise compensation, including both wages and benefits, by about 28%;

They reduce wage inequality by increasing the rate of pay more for low- and middle-wage workers than for higher-wage workers, more for blue-collar than for white-collar workers, and more for workers who do not have a college degree.

They provide benefit packages that oftentimes include paid leave, more vacation time and paid holidays, health insurance, lower healthcare deductibles and greater pension packages on average 28% higher than non-union workers, and have been good for black workers, who are more likely than any other group to have a union job. (1,2)

People are walking around with blinders on. When Democrats say they want a tax increase on the richest 1%, they’re not speaking of the 1950’s leve;s whe3rn the richest paid on average 62.5%. (This according to the O’Reilly Factor, Sept. 22, 2011 ). They want to raise the level to where it was during the Clinton years, to 29.6%. A lot of billionaires have agreed with the President, including Bill Gates and Warren Buffet— America ’s two richest men.

More telling, 71& of voters are in favor of such a tax hike, and 57% of Republicans are. Their representatives, however—elected to carry out the voters wishes, mind you—are staunchly against raising taxes on the wealthy, and in fact want to cut them! Meanwhile these corporations are sitting on more than $2 trillion in profits overseas and do little, if any, domestic hiring.

More telling, In 2010, the top 20% of Americans earned nearly half (49.4% ) of the nation’s income. The 15% who lived below the poverty line generated 3.4%. The top 1% of income earners bring in 24% of all income. (3,4)

Politicians lie blatantly, apply euphemisms and codewords to their platform and slip it by voters like a hard breaking slider. Look at these Tea Party misfits. They say they want their government back and want to restore the American way of life, and what could be more American than a union job that pays a living wage? Instead, they cut union jobs—starting with public entities like school districts. They claim teachers have contracts that are just too expensive.

Americans hunger for a return to “The Good Old Days,” but the Tea {Party takes that to the extreme. The fact that they call themselves the Tea Party tells you just how far back they want to go. The fact they use archaic slogans at their rallies (“Don’t tred on me”) shows that they are frightened by the literal changing face of America, from white to a much darker (and in their eyes, frightening) color.

It’s like our elected officials are saying, “Just because we’re sneaky doesn’t mean we’re up to something!”

Pay attention, dammit! You owe it to yourself, your country and to future generations.

Illegal Now Illegal In Alabama

By Mike Haran
Oct. 14, 2011

Now that Alabama has made illegal, illegal will there be reverberations. What I am referring to is the law making it a crime to be in the state illegally. With the enactment of the Alabama law swaths of field workers have stayed away from work on the first day it was enacted. (Could not unemployed youth be forced to take these jobs? ) I can already hear the cries of complaint as the rich pay more for their vegetables, where the hiring of cheap domestic help is a thing of the past, where the trend spreads to the boycotting of the sweat shops of Asia.
So things will be more expensive. What we lose in the market we will gain ten fold in debt reduction. International crime will take a hit putting a dint in the terror groups operations and a subsequent reduction in troop deployment and law enforcement costs. An enforement of the immigration law will have a knock on effect allowing greater scope for the bringing in of legal immigrants to fill the empty positions.A boycott of overseas sweat shops will alllow local maunufutrures to compete thereby creating employment within the US.
The turning of a blind eye to slavery as well a being morally wrong, (and in a country like the US hypocrical), is counter productive allowiing the rise of a cirminal class which after satisfying the needs of the well off will eventually turn on them, making them slaves too.
Liberals by opposing law enforcement have put themselves in the position of being soft on slavery. It seems they are trying to pull the wool over every ones eyes by stirring up debate on such distant subjects as global warming, gays in the military ,green energy, confiscation of wealth,(not theirs of course, no one is complaining about Oprah), and the punitive taxation of CEO's who earn money stipulated by the shareholders. All a smoke screen in order to cover up a liberal policy of entitlement which has filtered down to the lower levels of society. Will the Alabama legislation demanding the Federal Government up hold its own laws soon be turned into a circus by the likes of Michael Moore and the stand up comics?
For too long the US has operated under a system of written laws and a complicit agreement to obey some and not others. When you have write ups in Time Magazine for instance detailing teen age drug use as a more or less aceepted part of life why have the laws in the first place. It only creates a criminal class which while illegal is not really illegal. Its as if the US is putting in place a type of Babylon agreed to by all who matter at the expense of the powerless. Will the two tier system of government eventually put such a strain upon the US as to cause its eventual collapse?

10 Important Tips to Successful Real Estate Investing

10 Important Tips to Successful Real Estate Investing

By Neda Dabestani-Ryba

When it comes to investing, everybody has certain goals and aspirations. However, we have found that there are certain guidelines every aspiring real estate investor needs to know:
1. Compare Property Values and Rents
Financial statistics only go so far; the best measure of a property's market value is often the sale prices of nearby properties. The same holds true for area rents. A low price can often be justified by a reasonable rent; renters who can afford a high rent can afford to buy instead, so reasonably priced rent is a need.

2. Be careful - Tax laws may change
Don't base your tax investment on current tax laws. The tax code is constantly changing, and a good investment is a good investment regardless of the tax code. The right property with the right financing is what you should look for as an investor.

3. Specialize in something you Know
Start in a market segment you know. Whether you focus on fixer-uppers, foreclosures, starter homes, low-down payment properties, condominiums, or small apartment buildings, you'll benefit from experience by specializing in one aspect of investment real estate properties.

4. Know the Costs going in!
Know the financial statements inside out. What are operating expenses? What are loan payments? Vacancy costs? Taxes? What does the cash flow statement look like? These are key issues that must be addressed before making a solid investment.

5. Know where your tenants are coming from
If the last rent increase was recent, your tenants may be considering a move. If tenants have a short-term lease, they may be living there simply to attract unsuspecting buyers. It is also important to collect the tenants' security deposits at closing.

6. Assess the tax situation
Taxes are an integral part of successful real estate investing, and they often make the difference between a positive cash flow and a negative one. Know the tax situation, and see how it can be manipulated to your advantage. It may be a good idea to consult a tax advisor.

7. Investigate insurance coverage
If seller's coverage is based on lower-than-current replacement value, your insurance cost may increase when you pay a higher purchase price.

8. Confirm Utility Costs
Ask the local utilities to verify recent utility expenses, especially
if any of these costs are included in your tenant's rent.

9. Consult Your Accountant
Taxation is a key element of successful real estate investing, so be sure to find an accountant who is well-versed with the constantly evolving tax code.

10. Inspect!
Make sure that you always perform a thorough inspection of the property before buying it. Never, ever buy any property without at least examining the site. In some cases, hiring professional inspectors to examine the structural mechanical system may be a sound investment.
